Wagle Calls for Transparent Management of CIT Funds
Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle has called for transparent, secure and result-oriented management of Citizen Investment Trust funds which currently manage around Rs. 337 billion in savings.

Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has said investments made by the Citizen Investment Trust (CIT) should be managed transparently, securely and with a focus on results.
Responding to lawmakers during the theoretical discussion on the Citizen Investment Trust (Third Amendment) Bill, 2083 in the House of Representatives, Wagle said trusts managing public savings must be mobilized in a way that balances internal and external resources while maintaining appropriate risk management.
He also stressed the need for caution over how far public funds accumulated from people’s savings can be made flexible when national savings are insufficient, highlighting risk management as an important consideration.
CIT currently manages around Rs. 337 billion in savings. During the parliamentary discussion, lawmakers called for the funds to be managed safely, transparently and in a way that generates returns.
The bill will now proceed to clause-wise discussion in the concerned parliamentary committee, based on amendments registered by lawmakers.
