Heavy rainfall occurring across various parts of Nepal is expected to gradually decrease from tonight. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, weather conditions across the country are expected to improve significantly from Monday.

The department said recent heavy rainfall has been caused by a low-pressure system located around Uttar Pradesh in India and moisture-laden winds entering from the Bay of Bengal.

Over the past 24 hours, some areas of Makwanpur, Chitwan, Myagdi, Syangja, Tanahun, East Nawalparasi, Palpa and West Nawalparasi recorded more than 150 millimeters of rainfall.

Similarly, some areas of Kaski, Lamjung, Baglung, Parbat, Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, Arghakhanchi and Sarlahi recorded more than 100 millimeters of rainfall.

Light to moderate rainfall is still expected in some hilly and Terai areas this afternoon, while some locations could receive heavy rainfall.

The department has urged people in affected areas to remain highly cautious as continued rainfall has raised water levels in rivers and streams and increased the risk of landslides.

Meteorologists expect the possibility of heavy rainfall to decrease from tonight. From Monday, weather conditions are expected to improve across the country, with no significant weather-related risks forecast.
