Wholesale Egg Prices Increase in Nepal; XL Crate Reaches Rs. 3,900

The Nepal Layers Poultry Farmers Association has increased the wholesale support prices of eggs following a rise in market demand during the festive season and the onset of winter.

Under the revised rates, the prices of XL, large and medium eggs have increased by Rs. 200 per crate, while the price of small eggs has gone up by Rs. 100.

The price of an XL crate has reached Rs. 3,900, up from Rs. 3,700. Similarly, large eggs now cost Rs. 3,800 per crate, compared to Rs. 3,600 previously. Medium eggs have increased from Rs. 3,500 to Rs. 3,700, while small eggs have risen from Rs. 3,100 to Rs. 3,200 per crate.

The revised prices were announced just six days after the previous rates were set on Kartik 6. Despite the increase in farm-level prices, retail prices for consumers have remained unchanged.

Currently, large eggs are being sold at Rs. 25 per piece, while medium eggs are available at Rs. 45 for two pieces.
