Agriculture Development Bank Limited (ADBL) is one of Nepal’s leading “A-class” commercial banks with a strong legacy in rural and agricultural financing. Established originally as the Agricultural Development Bank in 1968, the institution played a pivotal role in providing credit to farmers, small entrepreneurs, and rural industries. Later, under BAFIA 2005, it transformed into a full-fledged public-limited commercial bank, combining its developmental mission with modern banking services. Today, ADBL operates a widespread branch network across all seven provinces and 77 districts, offering comprehensive services such as savings, loans, remittance, trade finance, digital banking, and business lending—while maintaining a strong focus on agricultural and rural development. The bank is majority-owned by the Government of Nepal (51%), with the remaining 49% held by the public, employees, and customers, giving it both a national responsibility and corporate strength. The current CEO of ADBL is Mr. Govinda Gurung, appointed on February 20, 2023, who brings more than 28 years of banking experience in Nepal and abroad. Under his leadership, the bank continues to expand its reach, enhance service quality, and strengthen its role as a key contributor to Nepal’s agricultural and economic growth.
