Citizen Investment Trust (CIT), also known as Nagarik Lagani Kosh, is a statutory public financial institution established under the Citizen Investment Trust Act, 2047. Founded on 18th March 1991 (4th Chaitra 2047 B.S.), CIT operates as an autonomous body under the ownership of the Government of Nepal. CIT plays a vital role in promoting savings, investment, and financial security among Nepalese citizens. It manages various retirement schemes, pension funds, unit schemes, insurance-linked products, and long-term investment plans, helping individuals build financial stability and future security. Through professionally managed fund administration, CIT channels national savings into productive sectors, supporting capital market growth and national economic development. As a trusted institution with decades of service, CIT emphasizes transparency, financial discipline, and customer-centric operations. It contributes significantly to Nepal’s financial ecosystem by offering reliable savings instruments, investment opportunities, and pension management services for government employees, private-sector workers, and the general public.
