Green Development Bank Limited is a “B-class” development bank in Nepal, licensed under the regulatory framework for development banks. The bank was incorporated in November 2012 and officially began its operations a few years later. Headquartered in Baglung (Harishankar Road, Ba.Na.Pa-2, Baglung district), the bank serves clients primarily in Gandaki Province, with a branch network that covers multiple districts in the region.Green Development Bank aims to provide accessible banking and financial services to clients often underserved by larger commercial banks. It offers a spectrum of banking products including deposits (savings, fixed deposits), loans (retail, small business/SME), payment & remittance services, and digital banking through its mobile-app platform “Green Smart.”Over recent years, the bank has sought to modernize its services, enabling features like online payments, fund transfers, bill payments, and card-related services under the country-wide payment network improving convenience for customers and aligning with Nepal’s broader digital-banking push. As of the latest public disclosures, Green Development Bank is listed on the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) under the ticker symbol GRDBL, with 5,696,985 shares outstanding and a paid-up capital of NPR 569,698,500. Its share-market data reflect active trading, although recent financial metrics show challenges: for the fiscal year 082–083, the bank’s earnings per share (EPS) was negative (−21.17), resulting in a negative P/E ratio a sign of losses or weak profitability. Despite these financial headwinds, GRDBL continues to expand its branch network (15+ branches per recent reports) and recently joined the national card infrastructure initiative under Nepal Clearing House Ltd. (NCHL), meaning once operational it will be able to issue and process domestic-card payments under the NEPALPAY scheme a step forward in modern banking in Nepal.
