The Upper Puwa I Small Hydropower Project (SHP) is a 3 MW run-of-river hydropower initiative located in the scenic Ilam district of eastern Nepal. Designed to utilize the natural flow of the Thulo Puwa Khola and Sano Puwa Khola, the project embodies Nepal’s commitment to clean, renewable, and sustainable energy generation. Strategically developed to support both regional power needs and national energy goals, the Upper Puwa I SHP plays a vital role in advancing Nepal’s hydropower sector. The project not only contributes environmentally friendly electricity to the national grid but also promotes local development through job creation, infrastructure enhancement, and community upliftment. With a strong focus on environmental balance and responsible hydropower development, the Upper Puwa I SHP aims to set a benchmark for small-scale renewable energy projects in Nepal, ensuring long-term sustainability and socio-economic growth for the region.
