Mailung Khola Jal Vidhyut Company Limited is a Nepalese hydropower company incorporated on 7 Bhadra 2059 B.S. (23 July 2002) under the prevailing laws of Nepal. The firm was later converted into a public company on 6 Bhadra 2071 B.S. (22 August 2014), under Registration No. 125838/071/072, and began trading under the name MKJC. The company’s main project is the 5 MW “Mailung Khola Hydropower Project” (MKHP) located on the Mailung River in the Rasuwa district of Nepal a run-of-the-river (RoR) hydroelectric plant. The project commenced commercial electricity generation on 19 Asar 2071 B.S. (approximately July 2014). Under its generation license issued by the government and a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), MKJC sells the produced electricity to the national grid.Beyond generation, MKJC is positioned as a small-scale hydropower company contributing to Nepal’s renewable energy capacity, leveraging the hydrology of Mailung River, and playing a role in energy security. However, like many run-of-river hydro plants, MKJC’s output is subject to hydrology risk: periodic fluctuations in river flow (especially during dry seasons) have historically impacted generation and revenue. From a financial / capital-market perspective: MKJC is listed on the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) under the ticker symbol MKJC. As of recent trading data, the share price has fluctuated, with a 52-week high/low range ~ NPR 635 – NPR 475.50. In FY 2079/80, the company declared a bonus share of 2.2211% and a cash dividend of 0.1169%. In recent financial disclosure (FY 2080/81), MKJC’s total operating income declined compared to prior years attributed mainly to reduced electricity generation during dry seasons and hence lower power sales. The company has indicated plans to improve internal controls and risk management, aiming for better hydrology mitigation and more stable operations.
