National Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited

NMFBS is a national-level microfinance institution in Nepal, licensed as a Class-“D” financial institution under Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB).It began operation on 2 July 2014 after obtaining its NRB license on 11 June 2014.NMFBS aims to provide financial services especially microfinance services to underserved and rural populations, contributing to financial inclusion, livelihood improvement, and rural development.Over time, NMFBS has expanded its scope by absorbing or merging with other microfinance institutions. Notably, in 2023 it merged with Summit Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (SMFDB), and from 30 Ashad 2080 B.S., the combined operations are carried out under the name National Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited. This consolidation has increased its capital base and operational reach. As of the latest publicly available data, its paid-up capital is around NPR 1.33 billion. NMFBS’s services include micro-loans, savings/deposit schemes, and other microfinance products aimed at low-income households, small businesses, and underserved communities. Given its national status and license, NMFBS has a mandate to operate across multiple regions of Nepal, offering financial inclusion beyond urban centers. Because of its role in microfinance and financial inclusion, NMFBS plays a part in supporting rural livelihoods, small-scale entrepreneurship, and community development by offering credit, savings, and financial services to those who might not have easy access to traditional banks.
