Shuvam Power Limited is a Nepali independent power producer listed on the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) under the ticker “SPL”, and operates in the hydropower sector. The company was originally registered under the name “Baneswar HydroPower Pvt. Ltd.” in July 2004, and was later converted into a public limited company in December 2015. SPL is engaged in development and operation of run-of-river hydropower projects. Among its assets is the 0.99 MW run-of-river project on the Lower Piluwa Khola in Sankhuwasabha District. As of late 2025, the company’s share data shows 2,000,000 outstanding shares, face value NPR 100, giving a paid-up capital of NPR 200,000,000.According to market data, SPL had a market capitalization around NPR 1.83 billion and a last traded price of NPR 916 (as of December 3, 2025) under recent trading. Financial and credit-rating disclosures indicate that SPL remains exposed to typical hydropower sector risks: flow variability, small project scale, and generation dependency on hydrological conditions. However, by being publicly listed and maintaining transparency via regular audit and disclosure notices (e.g. their 2080-81 audit report published May 2025), SPL provides investors a regulated and investable vehicle in Nepal’s hydropower sector. In many ways, SPL represents a small-to-mid-size IPP (Independent Power Producer) that leverages Nepal’s hydropower potential even from modest rivers to contribute to the national electricity supply while providing exposure to hydropower investment for retail investors through the stock market.
