Terhathum Power Company Limited is a Nepalese hydropower firm established to develop renewable energy via hydropower generation, with a focus on harnessing river resources in the Terhathum and adjoining districts. Its flagship project is the Upper Khorunga Hydropower Project, a 7.5-megawatt run-of-river plant located on Khorunga Khola in Terhathum District which successfully began generating electricity in November of 2076 B.S. (according to Nepal’s calendar) and feeds power into the national grid under a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the state utility. As a publicly listed hydropower company (symbol “TPC” on the national exchange), it has issued 8,000,000 shares with a paid-up capital of NPR 800,000,000. Over time, TPC has moved beyond single-project operations: it has proposed and begun procedures for developing a cascade project, Khorunga‑Tangmaya Khola Hydropower Project (≈2 MW), aiming to further exploit local hydropower potential and scale its generation capacity. In recent years, TPC has shown active capital management in 2025, the company announced a 1:1 rights-share issuance to raise funds for hydropower expansion and investment. Its listing on the stock exchange, regular trading, and clear project pipeline reflect TPC’s role as one of the smaller but publicly engaged independent power producers (IPPs) in Nepal’s growing hydropower sector. That said, like many run-of-river firms in Nepal, TPC’s operations remain exposed to seasonal water‐flow variability, hydrology risk, and the challenges of rural-area project implementation factors that influence generation stability, revenue, and long-term sustainability.
