CDO Calls Meeting with Upper Bhotekoshi Hydropower Directors to Resume Operations
After youth groups halted the 45 MW Upper Bhotekoshi Hydropower Project demanding 10% free shares, the Sindhupalchok CDO has called a meeting with the project’s directors to bring it back into operation.

Efforts have begun to restart the 45 MW Upper Bhotekoshi Hydropower Project, which was shut down after youth groups under the name “Jenji Youth” demanded 10% free shares from the company.
On Sunday, the Chief District Officer (CDO) of Sindhupalchok, Bandhu Prasad Bastola, called a meeting with the project’s board of directors to discuss the reopening of the halted project.
Earlier, on Asoj 22, Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal had directed authorities to immediately resume operations at the closed project. However, despite the instruction, the plant has not yet resumed generation.
According to Bhotekoshi Power Company CEO Bikram Sthapit, the project remains non-operational, but the CDO has initiated dialogue to reopen it.
“The CDO has called us for a meeting in Chautara,” said Sthapit. “Efforts are being made to bring the project back into operation. The meeting is currently underway.”
The project, a key hydropower asset in Sindhupalchok, has remained closed for several days, disrupting local electricity generation and investor confidence in the sector.
