GenZ Protesters Call for Interim Civilian Government, Elections Within Six Month
GenZ protesters demand an interim civilian government led by a universally accepted figure, with fresh elections within six months.

Nepal’s GenZ student protesters have issued an appeal demanding the formation of an interim civilian government led by a neutral and widely accepted figure, with elections to be held within six months.
In their statement, the protesters said no current state officials or elected representatives should be part of the interim government. They called for a directly elected executive head, a cabinet including independent experts, and a people-elected parliament to legislate laws.
The appeal further stated that existing parliamentary parties would not be allowed to participate in the interim structure, though representatives from the GenZ movement should be included based on consensus.
The group accused regressive forces, parliamentary parties, and foreign interests of exploiting public anger for their own benefit. They urged for collective negotiation involving all GenZ factions rather than exclusive talks with a single group or individual.
The statement also demanded the creation of a powerful citizens’ commission to investigate the assets of all officials who have benefited from state privileges since 1990, with illegitimate wealth to be nationalized. Additionally, they proposed the establishment of a high-level civilian mechanism comprising neutral figures and GenZ representatives to guide the nation’s future direction.
