Gold Prices Surge; Silver Hits All-Time High in Nepal Market

Kathmandu | July 22, 2025 — Nepal’s precious metals market witnessed a significant surge on Tuesday as gold prices jumped by NPR 1,800 per tola, while silver set a new all-time high.

According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers' Association, the price of fine gold (hallmark) soared to NPR 195,500 per tola, up from NPR 193,700 the previous day. This marks the fifth consecutive daily increase in gold prices, driven by international market momentum and local demand amid festive preparations.

Silver, too, showed an extraordinary performance. It rose NPR 35 per tola, reaching NPR 2,320, surpassing the previous record of NPR 2,315 set on Ashar 30 (July 14).

The simultaneous rally in both metals is attributed to geopolitical tensions, inflationary concerns, and a weakened US dollar, which typically boosts bullion prices globally. In Nepal, the appreciation of the US dollar against the Nepali rupee has further amplified the price gains.

Market insiders expect continued volatility throughout the week, especially with global economic uncertainties and central bank policies influencing bullion trends.
