Heavy Rainfall Disrupts Eight Major Highways Across Nepal
Continuous rainfall has fully blocked eight highways across Nepal, with multiple others operating partially under alternating traffic, according to Nepal Police.

Kathmandu, July 29, 2025 (Shrawan 13, 2082) — Eight major highways across Nepal have been fully blocked following continuous rainfall that began Sunday night, according to a statement from the Nepal Police Headquarters.
Among the obstructed routes are:
Koshi Highway at Bhotkhola, Sankhuwasabha
Nepal-China Border Bridge at Gosainkunda, Rasuwa
Araniko Highway at Bhotekoshi, Sindhupalchok
Besisahar–Manang Road at Marsyangdi, Lamjung
Rudrabeni–Bami Road at Satyawati, Gulmi
Ridi–Wami Road at Chandrakot, Gulmi
Jajarkot–Dolpa Bheri Corridor at Athbiskot, Rukum West
Dasharath Chand Highway at Patan, Baitadi
In addition to these closures, several highways are operating under single-lane alternating traffic, including:
Tokha–Nuwakot Road (Kathmandu)
Kaligandaki Corridor (Baglung and Gaindakot, Nawalparasi East)
Beni–Jomsom Road (Thasang, Mustang)
Prithvi Highway (Bandipur, Tanahun)
Sahid Highway (Parivartan, Rolpa)
Authorities have advised motorists to avoid non-essential travel on affected routes and stay updated through official bulletins. Emergency crews are working to restore access, but landslides and waterlogging continue to pose risks.
