Nepal Police shot and injured an alleged Indian drug trafficker during a joint anti-narcotics operation in Bhadrapur Municipality-5, Jhapa, on Saturday afternoon.
The suspect, identified as Mohammad Islam, aged around 36 and a resident of Kishanganj, Kollikot Police Station Area, India, was found loitering in a suspicious manner on an inner road near the border.
According to authorities, when a joint team from Jhapa District Police and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Kathmandu, attempted to detain him, Islam resisted arrest and tried to flee while attacking officers. In response, the police fired two warning rounds, one of which struck his left leg below the knee.
