Under the new initiative, two dedicated routes will be operated using a total of four electric buses. The north–south route will cover approximately 16 kilometres one way, starting from Lagankhel in Lalitpur and passing through major hospitals and institutions including Patan Hospital, Norvic, Bir Hospital, Kanti Children’s Hospital, Teaching Hospital, and Gangalal Heart Centre before reaching Budhanilkantha.
The east–west route will span around 20 kilometres one way, beginning from Thankot and passing through Satungal, Kalanki, Kalimati, Tripureshwor, Maitighar, Baneshwor, Minbhawan, and Tinkune, ending at Tribhuvan International Airport.
The service will operate between 8:00 PM and 11:00 PM, with buses scheduled at 20-minute intervals. To ensure passenger safety, all buses will be equipped with CCTV cameras, and municipal police will be deployed onboard.
KMC’s Acting Chief stated that the initiative aims to build a modern, integrated, and safe public transport system while improving accessibility and reliability for nighttime commuters. The city has also expressed openness to further collaboration to expand and strengthen the service in the future.
