NEA Allocates Additional Funds for EV Charging Infrastructure at 7 Stations
Nepal Electricity Authority has allocated over NPR 1 crore in additional funds to upgrade EV charging infrastructure at seven distribution centers across Nepal.

Kathmandu | July 22, 2025 — The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has allocated an additional NPR 1 crore and 81 thousand to improve infrastructure at seven electric vehicle (EV) charging stations operating under various regional distribution centers.
The move aims to accelerate EV adoption by addressing key infrastructure gaps across urban and rural charging hubs. According to NEA, the new allocation targets both metropolitan and remote regions, including Kathmandu, Surkhet, Gulmi, Bhojpur, and Itahari.
The funds will be distributed as follows:
Jorpati Distribution Center: NPR 1,006,000
Nilo Micro Charging Station (Jorpati): NPR 1,481,000
Surkhet Distribution Center (M Shakti Trade Link): NPR 2,819,000
Gulmi Distribution Center (Maitri Yatayat): NPR 1,371,000
Bhojpur (Jai Bajrang Kirana): NPR 1,018,000
Itahari (Riteshwar Charging): NPR 991,000
Indrayani Bhulbu Yatayat (Jorpati): NPR 1,395,000
These enhancements will ensure more reliable power supply and modernized charging facilities, improving user experience and addressing range anxiety among EV users.
The initiative is part of NEA’s nationwide EV infrastructure rollout. In fiscal year 2081/82, NEA installed 311 new charging stations, bringing the national total to 1,511 active units.
NEA officials noted that the investment aligns with Nepal’s commitment to clean transportation and reduced fossil fuel dependency, particularly as electric vehicle adoption accelerates.
