Nepal Bans Bridge Courses and Entrance Prep Classes for Grade 12 and Below
The government has decided to ban bridge courses and entrance preparation classes nationwide from Baisakh 1.

The Government of Nepal has announced a nationwide ban on bridge courses and entrance examination preparation classes targeted at students up to Grade 12, effective from Baisakh 1.
According to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, the decision aims to address growing concerns over the negative impact of such programs on students’ mental well-being, educational equity, and household financial burden.
Authorities have concluded that these privately operated preparatory classes create unnecessary academic pressure on students while also contributing to unequal access to education. The ministry noted that many institutions had been conducting such programs even before formal school and college admission processes began, fostering unhealthy competition among students.
The decision was approved at the ministerial level on Chaitra 13, and directives have been issued to all relevant stakeholders to ensure strict implementation.
Government officials have warned that any institution found operating such programs after the deadline will face legal action. Monitoring responsibilities have been assigned to District Administration Offices to enforce compliance across the country.
The move is expected to reshape the pre-admission academic landscape, with policymakers emphasizing a more balanced and inclusive approach to education.
