Nepal Rastra Bank Revokes Licenses of Two Money Changers in Biratnagar

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has revoked the operating licenses of two money changer companies based in Biratnagar after they failed to comply with renewal requirements within the stipulated timeframe.

According to the central bank, the licenses were cancelled in line with the provisions outlined in the “Money Changer License and Inspection Regulation, 2077.” The affected entities—Amrit Laxmi Money Changer Pvt. Ltd. and Super Fine Money Changer Pvt. Ltd., both located in Biratnagar-15, Morang—did not complete the renewal process within three months of license expiry.

NRB emphasized that timely renewal is a mandatory regulatory requirement to ensure compliance, transparency, and proper monitoring of financial transactions within the foreign exchange sector.

The move reflects the central bank’s continued efforts to enforce regulatory discipline among financial intermediaries and maintain the integrity of Nepal’s currency exchange system.

Authorities have reiterated that failure to comply with licensing provisions may result in strict regulatory actions, including suspension or permanent revocation of operating permits.
