NEPSE and Trading Volume Decline as Market Index Falls by 8.24 Points

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) ended lower on Monday, marking a pause after two sessions of consecutive gains. The benchmark NEPSE Index dropped 8.24 points to close at 2,622.89, while the Sensitive Index declined by 0.83 points. Similarly, the Float Index and Sensitive Float Index were down by 0.56 and 0.22 points, respectively.

Trading activity also eased, with total turnover shrinking to Rs. 6.05 billion compared to Rs. 9.20 billion on Sunday. A total of 12.18 million shares of 333 listed companies changed hands through 54,892 transactions during the session.

Two stocks — Muktinath Krishi Company and Excel Development Bank — hit their positive circuit levels, while Eastern Hydropower emerged as the biggest loser of the day, sliding 10%. Among bond instruments, the 9% Nepal SBI Bank Debenture 2089 surged 7.08%, and Everest Bank Limited Energy Bond 2089 rose by over 5%.

In terms of turnover, Shivam Cements led the market with Rs. 376.8 million in transactions, followed by NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited with around Rs. 340 million, and Radhi Hydropower with Rs. 245 million in trade value.

Out of 13 sub-indices, 6 advanced while 7 declined. The Trading sub-index posted the strongest performance, gaining 0.93%, whereas Hydropower and Life Insurance sub-indices dropped by 1.05%, weighing on the overall market sentiment.
