NEPSE fell by 1.66 points on Thursday, with market turnover also easing as investors showed cautious sentiment ahead of the weekend.

NEPSE and Turnover Decline as Market Closes Lower

NEPSE ended Thursday’s session lower, extending the weakness seen in the previous trading day. The benchmark index slipped 1.66 points to close at 2,607.37, continuing the mild downward trend that started on Wednesday.

While the broader index declined, the Sensitive Index edged up by 0.11 points. The Float Index fell by 0.10 points, and the Sensitive Float Index dipped 0.07 points, indicating a mixed sectoral performance across the market.

Turnover also contracted compared to the prior session. Wednesday had recorded trading worth NPR 3.73 billion, but Thursday’s activity moderated to NPR 3.49 billion. A total of 77.68 lakh shares were traded across 69,729 transactions involving 326 listed stocks.

Two stocks—Swastik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha and SY Panel Nepal—hit their positive circuit limits, reflecting strong investor interest. Meanwhile, SBL Debenture 2091 surged more than 6%, and Srinagar Agritech gained nearly 6% during the session. In contrast, Muktinath Krishi Company saw the sharpest decline of the day, falling 8.42%.

In terms of turnover, Ngadi Group Power led the market with trading worth NPR 189.7 million. Srinagar Agritech followed with approximately NPR 125 million in turnover, while Sagar Distillery crossed NPR 90 million.

Out of 13 sub-indices, five closed higher while eight ended lower. Banking, Life Insurance, Manufacturing & Processing, Microfinance, and Trading posted slight gains, reflecting selective buying despite broader market softness.
