NEPSE Surges Over 45 Points; Over NPR 4.4 Billion in Trades Within First Hour
Nepal’s stock market kicks off the new fiscal year with strong momentum, as NEPSE rises over 45 points and trading volume crosses NPR 4.4 billion in just one hour.

Kathmandu – July 17, 2025
Nepal’s capital market began the new fiscal year on a bullish note, with the NEPSE index climbing 45.07 points to 2,839.85 within the first hour of trading on Thursday (Shrawan 1). The surge in investor sentiment also reflected in strong turnover, which exceeded NPR 4.43 billion during the opening session.
As of the first 60 minutes of trading, 112.98 million shares were exchanged through 36,293 transactions, spanning 291 listed stocks. The sharp momentum was underpinned by broad market gains: 225 companies posted price increases, while only 23 saw declines.
The active participation of investors and large transaction volumes suggest revived confidence in the equity market, following subdued trading patterns seen in the previous fiscal quarter. Analysts attribute the spike to fresh portfolio allocations at the beginning of the new financial year and expectations of improved corporate performance.
The NEPSE rally signals positive sentiment across sectors, with banks, hydropower, and insurance leading early gains.
