NRB Requests Banks to Operate with Minimal Staff for Critical Services

The Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has urged all licensed banks, development banks, finance companies, and payment service providers to ensure the continuity of essential banking and digital payment services, even under the current adverse situation.

In a notice issued today, the central bank instructed institutions to operate sensitive systems with limited staff and, where possible, use remote access to minimize risks.

NRB further directed banks and financial institutions to inform the public about available services, open branches, and functioning ATMs through their official websites and social media platforms.

The move reflects the central bank’s priority to maintain public access to critical financial services during ongoing instability, while also safeguarding employees and operational infrastructure.
