Security Update: Four Arrested in Bhatbhateni Supermarket Looting, Weapons Recovered

Nepalese security forces have detained four individuals linked to the looting of Bhatbhateni Supermarket, one of the country’s largest retail chains, as part of intensified operations to restore order following nationwide unrest.

According to the Nepal Army, the arrests took place on Wednesday morning (Sept. 10 / Bhadra 25), during coordinated security sweeps across Kathmandu. Authorities also recovered NPR 232,500 in cash and USD 2,500 that suspects abandoned while fleeing in the Dilli Bazaar–Narayanhiti area.

In addition, security personnel confiscated a firearm, raising the total number of weapons recovered during the crackdown to 32. Officials confirmed that 26 prisoners who had escaped from Dadeldhura District Jail have been recaptured, while another attempted breakout at Dilli Bazaar prison in Kathmandu was foiled.

The army and police remain deployed nationwide as the government attempts to curb violence and looting triggered by the recent wave of protests.
