Tribhuvan University to Resume Classes Only After Chhath Festival
Tribhuvan University has postponed all classes until November 11 (after Chhath), citing nationwide unrest and disruptions caused by GenZ protests.

Tribhuvan University, Nepal’s largest higher education institution, announced that regular classes will only resume on November 11, after the Chhath festival, as nationwide unrest continues to disrupt academic activity.
In a notice issued by its Information and Public Relations Division, the university said all teaching activities under its network have been suspended from September 14 through October 25. The decision comes in response to ongoing disruptions sparked by the GenZ movement, which has halted operations at educational institutions across the country.
Officials stated that the winter break will be shortened to adjust for the prolonged suspension. “It has become impossible to run regular classes under the prevailing abnormal situation. Therefore, adjustments will be made by cutting into the winter vacation,” the notice said.
The move underscores the far-reaching impact of the political crisis on Nepal’s education sector. With campuses nationwide affected, the restart of academic operations is expected to face additional delays even after the scheduled reopening.
